A ground sloth the size of an elephant, and one of the first fossil mammals ever described — Cuvier named it in 1796 from a skeleton sent to Madrid from Argentina. Modelled rearing on its hind limbs and tail, the tripodal posture the massive pelvis and tail vertebrae were built to support.
Modelled by hand in heat-hardened clay over a wire armature, moulded in silicone and cast in polyurethane resin. Every copy is cleaned, retouched and painted by hand in acrylics, so no two pieces are ever strictly identical.
Made to order. Each casting is finished individually, so please allow time for preparation before dispatch.
